![]() The person who read Vishnusahsranam on Ekadashi, has special blessings of Bhagwan Vishnu. ![]() Those who do not keep Ekadashi fast for any reason, should not use rice in food on the day of Ekadashi and should avoid lies and blasphemy. ![]() Eating all types of grains is forbidden during Ekadashi fast. And the next day ends the fast only after sunrise. Devotees strictly follow the rules of fasting on Ekadashi. Devotees do not take the evening meal after taking food in the afternoon a day before the fasting day, to ensure that there is no residual food left in the stomach the next day. The fast for Ekadashi is related to the three-day routine. Thus, there can be at least 24 Ekadashi in a year, but in the case of Adhik Mas (extra months), this number can also be 26. There are two Ekadashi due to having two paksha's in a month, one on the Shukla Paksha and the other on the Krishna Paksha. Ekadashi is considered a day dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu. As per the Hindu calendar, each month’s 11th tithi is called Ekadashi.
